The big news today is that one of my short stories was accepted (conditionally) for publication at Word Riot. The condition? That I change the title, which I gladly did. This is non-paying gig, but I'm excited nonetheless! Hooray for me!
What's the difference between a memoir and an auto-biography? My brilliant boyfriend has checked it out for us and the answer is: in modern usage, they are almost (but not quite) the same thing. A memoir is a more personal, and subjective, account of one's life, and may only cover selected periods of time, while an auto-biography is expected to be more factual in nature and will extend from earliest memories through the time of the writing. This distinction was unclear to me. :~)
